Newcastle United are interested in signing James Maddison from Premier League rivals Leicester City in the summer transfer window, according to Football Insider. The Magpies have long wanted the England international playmaker and are keen on bringing him to St. James’ Park at the end of the season.
Maddison has made 17 starts and one substitute appearance in the Premier League for Leicester so far this season. The 26-year-old has scored nine goals and given five assists in those games. Last season, Maddison scored 12 goals and provided eight assists in the league.
Newcastle are fifth in the Premier League table at the moment with 41 points from 24 matches, four points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur, who have played 26 games. Meanwhile, Leicester currency find themselves 15th in the standings with 24 points from 25 games.
