Newcastle United are interested in signing Phil Jones from Manchester United in the January transfer window, according to Eurosport. West Ham United and Leicester City are also claimed to be interested in securing the services of the England international central defender when the transfer window opens next month.
Jones has been on the books of United since 2011 when he joined from Blackburn Rovers. The 28-year-old centre-back has fallen down the pecking order at the Red Devils, who are willing to move him on and are ready to listen to offers.
Newcastle are considering a move for Jones, but his weekly salary of £80,000 per week as salary could prove to be a problem. According to WhoScored, the 28-year-old has made two appearances in the Premier League and has made two starts and one substitute appearance in the Europa League for United so far this season.
