Newcastle United in talks with Reims over Hugo Ekitike

Newcastle United are interested in signing Hugo Ekitike from Reims in the January transfer window, according to Sky Sports. It has been reported that the Premier League club are already in talks with the French club over a move for the teenage striker before this weekend.

The Magpies have made an informal offer to Reims, but it is short of the £30 million that the French club are asking for the France Under-20 international striker. Talks between Newcastle and Reims are going on over the transfer of Ekitike at the moment.

Ekitike is one of the best and most promising young strikers in Europe at the moment. The 19-year-old has made 10 starts and seven substitute ppearaces in Ligue 1 so far this season, scoring eight goals and providing two assists in the process. Newcastle are in the Premier League bottom three at the moment and are in real danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
