Newcastle United are interested in signing Mohamed Elneny from Premier League rivals Arsenal in the January transfer window, according to The Daily Mail. It has been reported that Newcastle have discussed the possibility of signing the 29-year-old defensive midfielder when the transfer window opens in January.
Elneny has been on the books of Arsenal since 2016 and is out of contract at the North London club in the summer of 2022. No new contract is in place for the Egypt international defensive midfielder. The Arsenal no. 25 has made one start and four substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Gunners so far this season.
It is clear that Elneny is a squad player at Arsenal at the moment. If the Gunners get a decent offer from Newcastle, then they should sell the midfielder instead of losing him on a free in the summer of 2022.
