Newcastle United are interested in signing Dominic Calvert-Lewin from Premier League rivals Everton, according to The Telegraph. It has been reported that Newcastle’s new owners, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) are admirers of the 24-year-old striker.
Calvert-Lewin has been on the books of Everton since 2016 when he joined from Sheffield United. The 24-year-old developed a lot under former Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti and earned call-ups to the England squad. The striker scored 16 goals in 32 Premier League starts last season, and scored 13 goals and gave one assist in 30 league starts during the 2019-20 campaign.
The striker is injured now, and it is very unlikely that Everton will sell Calvert-Lewin in the January transfer window. However, if Newcastle make a big offer for the striker next summer and the player himself is tempted by a move to St. James’ Park, then a transfer is possible.
