Newcastle United are interested in signing Ousmane Dembele from Barcelona in the summer transfer window, according to 90min. The report has claimed that intermediaries met with the player’s camp during his recent trip to England.
Dembele attended Sunderland’s Championship match against Sheffield United in March, and Newcastle reportedly had intermediaries contacting with the French winger’s representatives during that period. The former Borussia Dortmund winger is under contract at former La Liga and UEFA Champions League winners Barcelona until the end of next season.
The 25-year-old has made 14 starts and four substitute appearances in La Liga for Barcelona so far this season, scoring five goals and providing five assists in the process. Dembele has also made five starts and one substitute appearance in the UEFA Champions League for Xavi’s side this campaign, scoring one goal and providing two assists in the process.
