Newcastle United are looking to add to an already impressive attacking line up by signing Real Madrid striker Javier Saviola on loan for this season. Kevin Keegan has Michael Owen, Mark Viduka and Obafemi Martins to choose from, but he is reported to be keen on the diminutive Argentine who is not needed at Real Madrid.
According to The Daily Mail, Newcastle are looking to sign Saviola on a year-long loan deal, but they are deterred by the players wages – believed to be worth around £125,000 per week.
Javier Saviola joined Real Madrid from Barcelona last summer when he left the Catalan club on a free transfer, but failed to impose himself in the first team even during van Nistelrooy’s lengthy injury lay-off. Now, Saviola could look for a move which would guarantee him some first team football.
