Newcastle United are ready to cash in on Kieran Trippier in the January transfer window, according to The Sun. The report in the British tabloid has claimed that Newcastle owners, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), want to bring in fresh blood and also need to comply with PSR needs, so they have identified Trippier as a player they could offload in the middle of the season.
Trippier is 34 now and is not guaranteed a place in Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe’s starting lineup right now. The former Tottenham Hotspur full-back has also made just six starts in the Premier League this season and earns £200,000 per week in salary. He is out of contract at Newcastle at the end of next season.
Newcastle, who have been linked with Fikayo Tomori, are aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season. The Magpies are currently fifth in the standings with 32 points from 19 matches, just three points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.
