Newcastle United are interested in signing Matteo Guendouzi from Arsenal in the summer of 2022, according to FootMercato. It has been reported that Newcastle’s new owners, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), like the French midfielder and plan to make a bid for him at the end of the season.
Guendouzi joined Marseille on loan from Arsenal in the summer of 2021. The 22-year-old is scheduled to stay on loan at the Ligue 1 outfit until the end of the season. Marseille are then likely to make the deal permanent, which means that Newcastle will have to buy the youngster from the French club.
The former Lorient youngster has made 11 starts and one substitute appearance in Ligue 1 for Marseille so far this season, scoring two goals and providing three assists in the process. Guendouzi has also played thrice in the Europa League so far this campaign.
