Newcastle United are interested in signing Shane Duffy from Premier League rivals Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer transfer window, according to Football Insider. West Ham United and Scottish Premiership side Celtic are also claimed to want the 28-year-old Republic of Ireland international central defender.
Steve Bruce wants a new centre-back at Newcastle this summer, and the Magpies’ manager has identified Duffy as a top target due to his international and Premier League and the fact that the Seagulls are willing to let him leave, with Brighton having given the green light for the Republic of Ireland international to leave on loan.
Duffy is a very experienced defender who has been on the books of Brighton since 2016. The 28-year-old is strong and has a no-nonsense style of defending, which would make him a very good and smart signing for Newcastle in the summer transfer window.
