Newcastle United are interested in signing Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City in the January transfer window, according to The Northern Echo. The report has claimed that Newcastle plan to make a bid for a loan deal for Phillips with a view to a permanent move in the summer of 2024.
Phillips has been on the books of City since the summer of 2022 when he joined from Leeds United. The England international moved to City amid hype and expectation, having done extremely well for Leeds, first in the Championship and then in the Premier League.
However, Phillips has failed to make a huge impact at City. The 27-year-old midfielder has played only 70 minutes in the Premier League so far this season. The 27-year-old has played just seven minutes in the UEFA Champions League and has made one appearance in the EFL Cup for the Citizens this campaign.
