Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon wanted to join Liverpool, according to The Telegraph. Over the weekend, Liverpool and Newcastle were in talks over a potential deal for Gordon, with Jarell Quansah going in the other direction.
However, no move materialised, and Gordon is still part of the Newcastle squad. The Telegraph has noted that the Magpies are worried that Gordon’s head may have been turned, and that they plan to show him a lot of love when he is back in training ahead of the new season.
Gordon has been on the books of Newcastle since January 2023 when he joined from Premier League rivals Everton. The 23-year-old England international winger, who is at Euro 2024 at the moment, scored 11 goals and gave 10 assists in 34 starts and one substitute appearance in the Premier League and made five starts and one substitute appearance in the UEFA Champions League for the Magpies last season.
