Newcastle United are interested in signing midfielder Joe Willock from Arsenal on transfer deadline day, according to Sky Sports (Transfer Live blog, 12:29pm, February 1, 2021). It has been reported that Newcastle have made an approach for the midfielder to bring him to St. James’ Park on loan from Premier League rivals Arsenal.
The report has claimed that Arsenal are prepared to let Willock leave on loan so that he can play regular first-team football in the coming months. Emile Smith Rowe has emerged the creator-in-chief at the Gunners, who also signed Norway international attacking midfielder Morgan Odegaard on loan from Real Madrid last month.
Willock is a very talented and promising young midfielder who is at that stage of his career where he needs to play. Newcastle are a big club, and playing for the Magpies on a regular basis in the Premier League would help him get better.
