The Daily Mirror is reporting that Newcastle United want their French midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa to sign a new deal at the club, following interest from Liverpool.
Alan Pardew is keen to get his star man a new contract and keep him at the club for a long time and with that, stop anyone coming in for him in the summer transfer window.
After signing a lot of French players, who are on a lot of money, Pardew knows that Ben Arfa is going to want the same amount as his fellow countrymen and the Magpies boss is prepared to offer him that.
When fit, Ben Arfa is one of Newcastle’s best players and now that he is coming back from a lengthy injury, many expect the North East club to climb up the English Premier League table and move clear of relegation.
Brendan Rodgers does seem keen on the France international though and even if Ben Arfa doesn’t want to leave, his agent knows it might get him a better deal with Newcastle if another club wants to sign him.
If Pardew can’t secure his services on a long term basis, then Anfield could be the destination for the playmaker.
