Newcastle United are interested in signing Johan Bakayoko from PSV Eindhoven in the January transfer window, according to The Telegraph. Newcastle have discussed Bakayoko in recruitment meetings, but the Premier League club are aware that they will find it tough to get a deal done for Bakayoko in the middle of the season.
Bakayoko is one of the best young forwards in mainland Europe. The 21-year-old can operate as a winger or as a forward. The Belgium international has been on the books of PSV since 2019 and has established himself in the first team after coming through the club’s youth academy. PSV have also been linked with Bakayoko.
The Belgian has scored five goals and given one assist in 10 starts and four substitute appearances in the Eredivisie for PSV so far this season. Bakayoko has scored one goal and given one assist in six UEFA Champions League games this campaign. In the 2023-24 campaign, Bakayoko found the back of the net 14 times and gave 14 assists in 48 matches in all competitions.
