(GSM) – Newell’s Old Boys missed a great chance to make a move on the top of the Argentine Clausura on Saturday as they were held late 1-1 by 10-man Vélez.

Vélez handed Newell’s a lifeline in the 28th minute when Franco Razzotti earned an early second booking.

Newell’s did not take advantage until the 63rd minute when Rolando Schiavi scored from the penalty spot after Sebastián Domínguez committed an infraction inside the area.

It looked like that goal was going to be enough to second Newell’s second in the table, but Pablo Lima struck with two minutes left to sneak a vital victory for Vélez.
