A day after Santos were crowned Campeonato Paulista champions, the Sao Paulo state federation announced the all-star 11 from the competition.
The team was chosen by a group of local journalists and given their win it was no surprise Santos had six representatives.
Sao Paulo’s Rogerio Ceni was picked in goal and the Tricolour captain, famous for his goal-scoring exploits, scored six in this year’s competition and notched up the 100th goal of his career against Corinthians.
In defence, Palmeiras’ Alex Cicinho got the nod at right back after his impressive attacking displays, while Corinthians captain Chicao is partnered by Santos skipper Edu Dracena in the centre of defence after solid performances throughout the competition.
Dracena’s team-mate Leo, who is enjoying one of his best seasons, lines up in midfield.
Bustling Corinthians’ midfielder Ralf is named in the team, alongside Santos’ Elano – the competition’s joint top scorer with 11 goals – in midfield.
Sao Paulo’s highly talented 18-year-old Lucas Moura, who was voted the ‘revelation’ of the Paulista, completes the midfield.
In attack, Palmeiras’ Kleber Giacomazzi, who scored eight times, is paired with Liedson of Corinthians who joined Elano on top of the goal-scoring charts with 11.
Brazilian superstar Neymar’s place in the side was never in doubt.
The Santos striker scored only four times during the competition but produced some fabulous displays and it was these that helped the teenager earn the Most Valuable Player award.
Despite going out in the semi-finals, former Chelsea boss Luis Felipe Scolari of Palmeiras picked up the award for best coach.
