NFL players have taken to social networking site Twitter to show their delight at the end of the league lockout.
Representatives from each of the 32 franchises signed off on the Collective Bargaining Agreement which was disputed on how to split more than $9 billion of league revenue between players and the NFL.
The lockout – which had been in place since March – had prevented all clubs from preparing for the season set to start in September.
The season was in doubt with the extended debate between the NFL Players Association and the league failing to progress until Monday’s decision.
Players were suitably thrilled that they could go back to ‘work’.
“I’m turning cartwheels in the parking lot,” Chicago Bears safety Chris Harris posted on Twitter.
“Today feels like a Holiday to me!! Thank God for football!” Denver Broncos rookie linebacker Von Miller wrote.
“To all of my fellow rookies…it’s time to live the dream….let’s work,” Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Torrey Smith wrote.
The agreement – set to last 10 years – will see franchise owners receive 53 percent of revenue, up from just under 50 percent in the former deal, while players will claim improved health and retirement packages, as well as increased pay.
