AC Milan striker M’Baye Niang has said in no uncertain terms that he would like to remain at Genoa beyond the current season.
The 20-year-old joined the Rossoblu on a six-month loan spell in January as he was frustrated by the lack of first team opportunities at San Siro.
With Alessandro Matri leaving for Juventus, Niang is already considered a starting striker at Stadio Luigi Ferraris although he has yet to score his first goal for the new club.
The talented forward reveals he is thoroughly enjoying his time in Genoa, hinting he is ready to commit his long-term future to the Rossoblu.
“Here I recovered my desire to play football,” said the Frenchman.
“Genoa have the characteristics of a great team. Everyone contributes, everyone runs together towards the same objective.
“(Coach Gian Piero) Gasperini showed me trust, he is teaching me a great deal,” the Frenchman told Il Secolo XIX.
“For the moment there’s an agreement for me to stay in Genoa over the next six months, but I’d be happy to stay here longer than that.”
M’Baye Niang has yet to register his first Serie A goal, having failed to find the net in 33 league outings for AC Milan, although he only started 11 of those games.
Genoa play host to Hellas Verona tomorrow afternoon and the Rossoblu are available at 17/20 to emerge victorious.
