Ligue 1 high-flyers Nice have moved to confirm that they will not be pursuing their interest in former player Hatem Ben Arfa.
Les Aiglons head coach Lucien Favre was hoping to bring the France international back to Allianz Arena after a disappointing spell with Paris Saint-Germain, but it looks as though that will not be possible.
Namely, Nice chairman Jean-Pierre Riviere has all but confirmed that the club’s chances of resigning Ben Arfa are slim to none.
“I do not believe in the possibility of a return, we lived a beautiful story with Hatem, he took another direction, we must wish him good luck for the future,” Riviere told Telefoot.
Ben Arfa didn’t even make the matchday squad for weekend’s clash with Nice, but les Aiglons fans nonetheless paid respect to the 30-year-old footballer who had impressed at Stade Allianz Riviera, bagging 17 goals last season.
Chances are that the attacking midfielder will be forced to leave Parc des Princes in search of first team football at the end of the season, with long-term admirers Sevilla expected to rekindle their interest.
