Ligue 1 side Nice seem to be preparing for life after Mario Balotelli as the club president is aware the Italian may decide to leave at the end of the season.
The 26-year-old did well to get his career back on track after joining on a free transfer, scoring 13 goals in 19 appearances to help les Aiglons mount an unlikely title bid.
However, having signed a one-year deal last summer, Balotelli will soon become a free agent, and there is a chance he will leave Allianz Riviera for greener pastures.
Nice chairman Jean-Pierre Rivere has offered his thoughts on the matter.
“It’s a satisfying season. He scored 13 goals. Mario’s future depends on his agent, the coach, the club,” Rivere told Canal Football Club.
“We always have a chance to keep him. There are financial constraints. He is happy, flourishing.”
Following disappointing spells with Liverpool and AC Milan, Balotelli may resist temptation to leave Nice at the end of the season, especially since les Aiglons will take part in the Champions League qualifying stages.
Nice are still in the race for the Ligue 1 trophy, although they are four points adrift of leaders Monaco, who also have a game in hand.
