Nice could rekindle interest in Ben Arfa

Ligue 1 high-flyers Nice might decide to rekindle interest in former player Hatem Ben Arfa, according to the club chairman.

Even though he had earlier admitted defeat in the chase for the PSG star, Jean-Pierre Rivere may decide to pursue the 30-year-old after all.

The Nice president took the opportunity to thank the supporters after the final game of the season at Stade Allianz Riviera, but his speech was interrupted as the fans started the famous Hatem Ben Arfa song.

Rivere smiled and said:

“I don’t know if this is a message for the transfer market, but it has been received.”

Hatem Ben Arfa is almost certain to leave Parc des Princes in search of regular playing time and he may be interested in moving back to Allianz Riviera, where he enjoyed a remarkable campaign last term.

The winger scored 17 goals in 34 league outings and eventually joined PSG on a free transfer, but he couldn’t get on the scoresheet in five starts and 18 substitute appearances.
