Nicolas Gaitan linked with Atletico Madrid exit

Former Benfica winger Nicolas Gaitan could be leaving Atletico Madrid in the winter transfer window, according to reports from Spain.

The 29-year-old joined los Colchoneros some 18 months ago in a €25 million deal, but he has so far failed to prove his worth.

Having started just one La Liga game this season, Gaitan does not seem to have a long-term future at Wanda Metropolitano.

With Diego Costa and Vitolo set to arrive in January, Atletico Madrid will offload several attack-minded footballers, with Nico Gaitan, Kevin Gameiro, Fernando Torres and Luciano Vietto linked with winter exit.

The Argentine winger had been on the radar of quite a few top sides during his time with Benfica, but he never quite managed to impress in Spanish La Liga.
