Besiktas have agreed to sign Uruguayan midfielder Nicolas Lodeiro from Botafogo, according to Hurriyet.

The Black Eagles were hoping to add an attacking midfielder to their ranks and were in talks with Brazil star Ronaldinho.

However, with negotiations hitting a standstill, they turned their attention to Nicolas Lodeiro and have now reached an agreement with the player’s employers.

Hurriyet has suggested Besiktas will pay €1.2 million for a five-month loan, whilst they will have an option to turn the loan move into permanent deal for additional €8 million.

Nicolas Lodeiro joined Ajax in January 2010 as one of South America’s hottest prospects, but he utterly failed to prove his worth in Dutch Eredivisie.

The Uruguayan left the Amsterdammers in the summer of 2012 to sign for Botafogo and that proved to be an excellent decision.

Lodeiro managed to kick-start his career in Brazil, having made 60 league appearances for the club, scoring 15 goals.
