AC Milan midfielder Nigel de Jong has made it clear that he is not thinking about leaving San Siro in the near future.
The Netherlands international will be out of contract at the end of the season and he was reportedly the subject of interest from Manchester United during the summer.
And while de Jong has been flattered by the interest from Red Devils, he insists he is perfectly happy at AC Milan.
“If many people like him (Van Gaal) respect me and recognise what I am doing, then I can only be proud,” the midfielder told Il Giornale.
“I want to stay at Milan and I repeat that I want to end my career here.
“At what point will there be a new contract? I know that the club has contacted my agent and there is an appointment for next week.”
Nigel de Jong joined AC Milan from Manchester City two years ago and he immediately developed into a key player for the Rossoneri.
The 29-year-old has so far made 47 league appearances for the club, scoring 4 goals, while featuring in 14 Champions League fixtures.
After winning their first two matches of the new league campaign, the Rossoneri are 11/5 to defeat reigning champions Juventus and prove they can be regarded genuine title contenders.
