Nigeria could be docked African Cup of Nations qualifying points if they field Wigan’s Victor Moses against Ethiopia on Sunday.
Moses, 20, has been called up to the Nigeria squad for the match against Group Two opponents Ethopia in Abuja.The forward was born in Nigeria, but has represented England at under-17 and under-21 level. According the FIFA, they have not received the request necessary to formally change his nationality.”As of today, FIFA has not received any such request from Victor Moses or the Nigeria Football Federation,” a FIFA spokesman told Reuters.Moses, who joined English Premier League club Wigan Athletic from Crystal Palace in 2010, is yet to make a full international appearance for either Nigeria or England.According to FIFA rules, international teams fielding ineligible players can be docked points and receive a minimum fine of 6,000 Swiss Francs.Nigeria are three points behind Group Two leaders Guinea after one win and two defeats from their first three matches.
