Serbian forward Nikola Zigic could well spend the second half of the season on loan at Racing Santander. This was revealed by Valencia vice-president Fernando Gomez on Thursday.
“Racing had a meeting with us some days ago and we came to a verbal agreement. The documents haven’t been signed yet though and the deal won’t be closed until the player gives his go-ahead,” Gomez said.
Zigic, born in 1980, joined Racing from Red Star Belgrade in 2006 but found himself playing for Valencia a year later. So far, he spent more time on the bench than on the pitch during his stay with the Spanish side.
Zigic could be the first of several players to sign a loan deal this winter, according to Gomez: “We have several players that have had very few minutes on the pitch and might be able to play more at other teams.
