Jack Wilshere will not be playing for Arsenal again at this point, according to manager Mikel Arteta.
The 29-year-old midfielder, who made 198 appearances in all competitions for the Gunners between 2008 and 2018, is currently without a club following the expiration of his short-term deal with Bournemouth this summer. He was invited to train with Italian side Como recently but they were reportedly unable to offer him a contract due to their squad being full to the brim.
Arteta recently spoke on the subject and said that the doors would always be open to Wilshere, but speaking to the press ahead of his team’s Premier League match away to Burnley on Saturday, the Spaniard clarified the club’s position. He confirmed that the former England international is set to train with his team, but at this point, no contract offer is forthcoming.
The manager said the club were willing to help the midfielder get back on his feet, but Wilshere has been made aware of their position.
