“Well at the moment I was just happy to come back from injury, it was three long months – I was happy just to come back and be able to play again,” Mustafi replied when asked about a new contract.
“We haven’t been talking about anything so there isn’t anything I can tell you guys.”
Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi has confirmed that there is no available update regarding a new contract with the club.
Many Gunners fans believe that the defender’s time at the club should now be coming to an end, and give the fact that he’s out of contract next summer, it does feel like that’s the direction this could be trending in.
Arsenal are desperately attempting to rebuild themselves from a defensive standpoint, and in order to do that, they need to recognise what some of their biggest weaknesses are. Unfortunately for Mustafi, there’s a chance he falls into that category.
