No bites for Elmander: Coyle

Bolton boss Owen Coyle insists they have received no offers for top-scorer Johan Elmander.

The 10-million-pound club-record signing could walk away for nothing at the end of the season after failing to agree to a new deal which would keep him at the Reebok.

Elmander, who struck his 11th goal of the campaign in Bolton’s FA Cup quarter-final win at Birmingham last weekend, has been linked with a move to Italy, with Juventus and Fiorentina the reported suitors.

But Coyle insisted that no-one had contacted Wanderers about the 29-year-old Swede.

“I don’t deal in rumour and there will be a million rumours out there,” Coyle said.”I deal in fact and the fact is that there has never, ever, been one genuine enquiry for Johan.”

“If the summer comes about and there is something out there for Johan and his family that he thinks is the right thing for him, then good luck to him.”

“I would love him to stay – I enjoy working with him and he enjoys working with me.”

“Come the summer, that is when that decision will be made, so conjecture and rumour-mongering I’ll leave to the people who enjoy that sort of thing.”

In-form Bolton, who have won five of their last six games, travel to injury-hit Manchester United on Saturday.

And Coyle was delighted his side avoided the Manchester giants in the FA Cup semi-finals and will face Stoke at Wembley on April 16/17.

He said: “If you had a choice, with Manchester United and Manchester City there and given the size of the clubs, probably both Bolton and Stoke would have wanted to play each other.”

“All I would say is that when it comes about, you will have two teams that are very positive in their outlook in terms of trying to win the game and I think it will be a fitting semi-final.”

Bolton could head to Old Trafford without a specialist right-back after Gretar Steinsson was struck down by illness.

The Iceland international has failed to train this week after picking up a bug and will be monitored over the next 24 hours to see if he stands any chance of playing.

Paul Robinson could switch to the right, with either Marcos Alonso or the fit-again Jlloyd Samuel drafted in on the left.

Midfielder Mark Davies is also a major doubt with an ankle injury.
