No Chelsea crisis, says skipper Terry

Chelsea captain John Terry has denied the club were in crisis but warned his team-mates that they risked “giving away” the Premier League title if they don’t halt their form slump.

Chelsea have taken just five points from a possible 18 in their last six matches, and have not registered a victory in the Premier League since beating Fulham 1-0 a month ago.

The Blues embark on a daunting sequence of three matches on Sunday when they face Tottenham followed by clashes with Manchester United and Arsenal.

But Terry struck a defiant note on Chelsea’s official website (www.chelseafc.com), insisting the club had the players to ride out their poor run of form.

“It’s not a crisis at all at the moment, we’re still in with a shout of the Premier League and we’ve just topped our Champions League group,” Terry said.

“Early on in the season we were playing very well and if we can get that form back, with other teams slipping up, everyone dropping points, we can pull away from teams again.

“Nothing has changed on the squad basis, it’s just about staying together and staying confident.

“The players need to realise if we don’t start soon we’re going to give it away to Man United, who are not playing well at the moment, or to Arsenal, who are not playing well at the moment.

“I don’t think anyone can say they’re playing well, the good thing is we’re not out of it.”

Terry acknowledged however the club were going through “a bad spell.”

“We need to go on a good run and now would be the perfect time with Tottenham, Man United and Arsenal coming up it would be ideal for us,” Terry said. “We’ve got big players here who are hopefully prepared to rise to the challenge and put their neck on the line.”
