(GSM) – Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has denied claims that he has lost control over the club’s dressing room and that some of his squad’s stars want him to depart.
The 45-year-old Italian tactician has seen his team lose two matches in succession with a 2-1 loss against Wolverhampton Wanderers following a 3-0 humbling at the hands of Arsenal.
And it has been suggested that the heated argument between City stars Emmanuel Adebayor and Vincent Kompany is an indication that the former Internazionale coach has not been able to impose his character in the dressing room.
Mancini’s second-half decision to bring Pablo Zabaleta on at the expense of striker Adebayor is also believed to have caused discontent within the squad.
However, Mancini has dismissed the speculation that the City players are unhappy with his guidance, insisting that such talk is pure ‘rubbish’.
“It’s rubbish,” he told Sky Sports about the rumors of a players’ revolt.
The Italian has been at the helm of the Eastlands club for less than a year, but pressure is mounting on him after the club’s Arab owners’ extravagant spending in the summer added to the expectations of both the fans and board.
