“So far Real Madrid have not been in contact with the Belgian FA. If they should be interested they should contact the Belgium FA and ask permission to start negotiations. That has not been the case so far.”
Those are the words of the Belgian FA, as speculation continues to grow over the future of the Spanish boss. Martinez, who helped to lead Belgium to 3rd place in the 2018 FIFA World Cup this past summer, has been heavily linked with the vacant managerial role at the Bernabeu in the wake of Antonio Conte being ruled out of the position.
Nevertheless, it appears as if there’s nothing concrete to confirm these rumours at this point in time, with Martinez still being the Belgium coach for the time being with Madrid not yet making a formal approach. For now, we’ll have to sit back and wait to see how this story develops.
