No Inter moves for Mourinho, Tevez

Inter president Massimo Moratti has denied that Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez and ex-coach Jose Mourinho are Milan bound.

Argentina striker Tevez, who has scored 40 goals in all competitions this season, has been the regular subject of exit talks from Eastlands since his high-profile move from cross-town English Premier League rivals Manchester United.

But Moratti – rumoured to be overseeing a mass clearout at last season’s treble winners – dismissed rumours that Tevez was in Milan to hold talks with the Nerazzurri.

“Well, I knew from the TV that he was in Milan. There is absolutely nothing to it,” the 66-year-old said, before going on to also poured cold water on talks of a return to Inter for Mourinho.

“No, no, we haven’t talked. Now he’s surely working to rebuild.”

Dutch playmaker Wesley Sneijder is among a handful of Inter players rumoured to to be exiting the Serie A heavyweights in the northern summer, but the president only spoke of bolstering the squad.

“Every year it’s the same story. The team is strong and it will be a pity to change it. We’ll see what it is necessary to do to rejuvenate the team,” he said.

Inter’s late 2-1 win over Cesena on Saturday denied their bitter rivals Milan from claiming the Scudetto on the weekend.

When quizzed on his feelings, Moratti said it was the result – not the inconvenience to their city foes – that gave him the most pleasure.

“Well, no. It was just a good win. It was an interesting match which we’ll all remember,” he said.

“It was exciting. The football may have been good or not, I don’t know. But either way it was been great the way it turned out for us.”

“Well, whoever wins the championship always deserves it. It’s the team who has displayed the greatest level of consistency. Therefore the team who wins the championship is the one who deserves it.”
