Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has left Lassana Diarra off his squad for Wednesday’s Champions League tussle with AC Milan at the San Siro despite the French international midfielder shrugging off recent groin trouble.
Mourinho named the squad after Tuesday’s training session, and elected not to call on Lass in a “coaching decision”, Real Madrid said on their website.
But Argentine winger Angel di Maria is available, apparently laying to rest a report that he had been injured. Sports daily Marca said Tuesday that di Maria suffered a bruised kneecap in a closed-door training session Monday.
Defender David Mateos has found his way back into the squad but Brazilian star Kaka is still out of action after a knee operation, Argentine Ezequiel Garay remains off with a knee injury, and midfielder Fernando Gago has a knee sprain.
