Inter transfer guru Marco Branca has reveled that the Neroazzurri squad will not undergo major changes this summer.
It was expected that coach Leonardo and some of the players could leave the club after Inter failed to defend the Serie A and Champions League titles.
However, Branca insists that Leonardo, as well as the majority of players, will remain at Giuseppe Meazza.
“President Massimo Moratti has been very clear with regard to the future. Leonardo will stay,” Branca was quoted as saying.
“Now we need to think about how we can freshen up the squad, but we can’t freshen it up too much otherwise that would be risky.”
“We already made a start on this in January and that helped us enjoy a really good second half of the season.
“Now we need to target further improvement.”
The January arrivals Andrea Rannochia, Giampaolo Pazzini, Yuto Nagatomo and Houssine Kharja really improved the quality of the squad and Inter chiefs seem happy with the squad at their disposal.
Nevertheless, Inter are likely to bring few more players in the summer so as to further reinforce the squad.
Mazzarri unsure over Napoli stay
Napoli coach Walter Mazzarri remains coy over his future, amidst speculations linking him with a move away from San Paolo.
Last night Napoli clinched the Champions League place with the 1:1 draw against Inter, but Mazzarri couldn’t say whether he will stay at the club after this season.
“It has been an extraordinary night and I have to thank everyone who works around the team, creating a sense of harmony to help the players give their best,” Mazzarri said after the Inter game.
“This journey has been going for two years now and after talking to the club I will go into the Press room and say what needs to be said.
“Quite aside from personal rapport, we are professionals and have to be clear at the end of every season on where we are going in future.”
Mazzarri was then asked if this could have been his last game at San Paolo.
“I really cannot answer this question until I have spoken to the club. I could lie, but I am always clear and I say that we must talk things over with the club before making any decision.
“My honesty is often inopportune for this football world and admittedly I lack something in diplomacy. Please be patient, as after the meeting with the President we will be able to make everything clear.
“I don’t know when the meeting will be, as I am an employee and have to wait for the President to call me in. Once we discuss everything in a 360 degree analysis, we’ll inform the media of our conclusions.
Ancelotti: I could have done better
Carlo Ancelotti has admitted he could have done a better job at Chelsea after the Blues secured the second-place finish in the Premiership.
The Italian will have to wait for at least another week before he finds out if he will remain at Stamford Bridge, but everything suggests he is set to get the sack.
Ancelotti concedes he was not always at his best during his time at Stamford Bridge.
“In my opinion, sometimes I did a good job, sometimes I could do better,” Ancelotti was quoted as saying.
“It is the club that has to take a decision and judge my job. If my job was good, I will stay. If they think it was not good, I will have to go.”
The Italian has a one year left on his contract and has yet to hold talks with the club management.
“I don’t know what will happen. We have to wait just one week. A week is not a long period.”
Carlo Ancelotti is clearly not the only one to blame for Chelsea’s disappointing season as the squad is in major need of rebuilding, but it looks as though the Italian will not be the man to oversee the delicate job.
