Hertha Berlin defender Christian Lell says he will have no mixed feelings about his first trip back to Bayern Munich on Saturday.
Lell won two Bundesliga titles, two German cups and a league cup with Bayern before moving to the German capital in June 2010, and Saturday’s match will mark his first visit to the Allianz Arena since his transfer to Hertha.
Over a year after the move, the 27-year-old’s girlfriend and daughter have joined him in Berlin, and Lell said in an interview with Bild that his loyalties lie only with his current employers.
“We have just sold our house,” Lell said. “After my move to Hertha in the summer of 2010, I often returned to Munich. That’s over now. We want to have our lives 100 percent centred around Berlin.”
“I am no longer red, but a ‘Herthaner’, with the heart and soul of a true Berliner.”
