Gregorio Manzano is open to reinforcing his Sevilla squad during the January transfer window, but only if the right players are available.
Manzano, 54, took over at Sevilla in September following the sacking of Antonio Alvarez.
After a promising start under the new coach, Seville have now slumped to six defeats in their last seven matches in all competitons.
With key men Frederic Kanoute and Jesus Navas missing and a number of other players also injured, Manzano is coming under pressure to bring in new faces when the transfer market opens in January.
But the former Mallorca and Atletico Madrid boss insists he will not be signing players simply for the sake of it.
“When I was asked, I said that I wouldn’t lie, and I won’t lie to you,” Manzano said.
“We have had meetings, we’ve spoken, and I’ve seen players. I’ve always said it, and I maintain it, that if there is a player who can improve the team, then the president has indicated that he will make every effort to bring them here.”
“At the moment, there will not be any signings. I will tell you the truth … I can’t promise that we will do anything. We’ve made the first steps in the market to see if there is anyone who can reinforce the team.”
“Right now, the players who I have identified are almost all midfielders.”
Sevilla sit 11th in La Liga going into the Spanish winter break, before resuming their season at home to Osasuna on January 2.
