Brazil coach Carlos Dunga has not called up a replacement for injured striker Luis Fabiano for their friendly international against Italy next week, the country’s football federation (CBF) said on Monday.
Juventus refused to let Amauri go as a replacement for Sevilla striker ‘El Fabuloso’ for the February 10 fixture at Arsenal’s Emirates stadium, claiming he had not been picked in the required 15 days before the match under FIFA rules.
The CBF said in a statement: “The technical commission of the Brazilian squad has decided not to bring in another striker to replace Luis Fabiano for the match against Italy (in London).”
Luis Fabiano injured a knee last Thursday and his recovery needs another couple of weeks.
Dunga has only picked European-based players against the reigning World Cup champions, including the return of Ronaldinho, whose AC Milan team-mates Kaka and Pato are also in the squad, plus Inter Milan’s Adriano.
