(GSM) – Louis van Gaal and Luca Toni have nothing to say to each other anymore. Bayern Munich coach Van Gaal made it clear that there’s no way back for the dissatisfied striker.
“I’m done with Toni. He has stated that he want’s to leave Bayern, so it’s up to him to find another club in January,” Van Gaal said to Italian paper Corriere dello Sport.
Benchwarmer Toni has criticised Van Gaal several times this season. The Italian forward has informed the media in his native country about his difficult situation at Bayern on a regular basis, much to the annoyance of Van Gaal. “It’s too late to come up with excuses now. He should have thought about that before. He has made the decision to behave in a certain way and there’s no way back now. He didn’t meet our expectations this season and he’s no longer needed at Bayern Munich.”
The only thing that’s not clear, is Toni’s next club. The towering hitman, who has a contract at Bayern until 2011, wants to return to his native country. AS Roma and Inter Milan have been linked to the 32-year-old forward. Inter will be without Samuel Eto’o for several weeks in January because of the African Cup of Nations.
Italian media have reported that Bayern and Inter will open talks later this week. During that conversation, they will discuss the transfer fee, among other things. Toni’s wages, around €3.5 million euro on a yearly base, could become an obstacle during the negotiations. However, the striker is done with Bavaria and is prepared to lower his wages.
