Liverpool are yet to play their second consecutive Champions League final on 1 June against Tottenham, but plans for the next season are in full swing. James Milner is one of the players that still has not signed a new deal with the club, with his current contract set to expire on the last day of June. But Steve Nicol, former Liverpool player and Scotland international believes Milner will definitely stay at Liverpool next season.
“Absolutely no chance he goes anywhere other than his car to drive to Anfield to sign a new deal. It would be absolutely crazy, he’s been a huge part of this year again. Regardless of his age, Liverpool will need him next year. Maybe he won’t play as many games, but he’ll be needed for cover all around the field”, Nicol told ESPN FC.
Milner is 33 years old and had joined Liverpool in 2015, but if Nicol is to be believed, he will not leave the club before the summer of 2020.
