Newcastle have completed the signing of Bolton skipper Kevin Nolan for around £4million.
The 26-year-old has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with the Magpies and will move into the squad that will take on Sunderland on Sunday.
“It all happened so quickly but it was an opportunity which was impossible to turn down,” Nolan said.
“I can’t wait to play in front of these fans every week and I’m really looking forward to the next four-and-a-half years.”
“When I heard there was a chance of getting Kevin I was determined we would pull out all the stops to bring him here,” Newcastle boss Joe Kinnear told the club’s official website.
“He’s a player I think our fans will love. He’s a real inspirational player and a great character. He’s the sort of lad who never knows when he is beaten.
“He’s got a good eye for goal and has got bags of Premier League experience.
“I think he is going to be a very valuable player for us and someone who can help us climb back up the table.”
