Atletico CP striker Bjorn Maars Johnsen has caught the eye of Benfica scouts, Record has suggested.
The Eagles officials watched the player in action in the Taca de Liga clash against Gil Vicente, which is enough to suggest they are thinking about luring the youngster to Estadio da Luz.
Maars has largely impressed in Portugal’s second division this season, notching nine goals in eight appearances for Atletico CP.
The talented forward was born in North Carolina, USA, but he started his football career in Norway, playing for Valerenga youth sides before signing for lower division Tonsberg.
Following a short spell with Atletico Baleares in Spanish Segunda B, Maars joined Portuguese side Louletano and went on to score 10 goals in 28 league matches.
He then went on to sign for Atletico CP and has already proved to be a great signing for the club, although his current employers face a real battle on their hands to ward off interest from Portugal’s top sides.
