Despite the reports in the Spanish media about Barcelona getting ever closer to sealing a deal for Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt, the player himself has spoken on the matter and said that nothing has been decided at the moment.
The 21-year-old was asked about his future following his team’s win over Utrecht on Sunday, and as relayed by Sky Sports, he admitted that there were ongoing negotiations with a club which he wouldn’t name, but is strongly believed to be the Catalan giants. But he did say that the matter wasn’t over – no decision had been made.
Apart from Barcelona, de Ligt has been linked with other top clubs as well, including Champions League finalists Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, and it has been recently reported that he rejected the advances of Manchester United after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team became certain to miss out on Champions League football next season.
