Nottingham Forest 9/5 to beat Derby in Sundays Championship clash

Competition: Championship
Market: Nottingham Forest to beat Derby
Odds: 9/5 @ Bet 365

Despite starting brightly this campaign, Gary Rowett’s Derby County side have been unable to keep the pace up as of late and now find themselves in the heart of a battle to secure a top-six finish come the end of the season. On Sunday afternoon, the Rams will travel to Nottingham to face a Forest side who have managed to find their own fine run of form at the business end of the season.

For the hosts on Sunday afternoon, former Middlesborough boss Aitor Karanka has done an admirable job in turning Forest’s fortunes around. After only picking up two Championship wins over a two-month period, many believed that the Reds were being dragged into a relegation battle. However, while they may be sat down in 15th position, Forest now hold a considerable 14 point buffer over the drop zone and Karanka is desperate for his team to find one late push up the table. While the playoff spots may be unrealistic, Forest are now unbeaten in their last five outings.

As for the visitors on Sunday afternoon, earlier on the season, Gary Rowett’s Derby County side were tipped as one of the Championship’s top promotion candidates, however, after a poor run of form of late, the Rams gave now dropped down to fifth in the table and are now nine points adrift of automatic promotion. While Derby still remain in the playoff positions, Rowett’s side are now only four points clear of Preston in eighth. Coming away with a 1-1 draw at QPR in midweek, Derby have now failed to pick up a victory in their last six outings, a run stemming back to the start of February.
