Ntep confirms interest in Arsenal switch; Leverkusen to sign Brandt

AJ Auxerre striker Paul-Georges Ntep has confirmed his interest in signing for Arsenal in the January transfer window.

AJ Auxerre striker Paul-Georges Ntep has confirmed his interest in signing for Arsenal in the January transfer window, according to Metro.

Ntep, 21, joined Auxerre from Brétigny Foot, a club that has produced Jimmy Briand and Patrice Evra, after a successful short-term trial in 2009.

The France Under-21 international, whose current contract at the Stade de l’Abbé-Deschamps expires in the summer of 2015, is reportedly being scouted by the Gunners amid speculation he is set to leave the Ligue 2 side in the New Year.

The 21-year-old Cameroonian-born winger, a former team-mate of Arsenal striker Yaya Sanogo at Auxerre, is valued at £5 million.

“Arsenal is a club that trusts young players,” Ntep told L’Equipe.

“Will I leave in January? I am thinking about it currently.

“Such a decision will depend on the project, time in first-team and the style of play at the new club.”

Ntep has netted an impressive tally of seven goals in 17 appearances in all competitions for Auxerre this season.

In other news around France, Olympique Lyonnais chairman Jean-Michel Aulas expects to receive offers for Bafetimbi Gomis when the transfer window re-opens in January.

Gomis, 28, is out of a contract at the end of the season and was heavily linked with a move to the English Premier League in the summer.

“It’s not impossible that there will be several offers for Gomis. We will see,” said Aulas.

“We don’t have any means for winter reinforcements. Maybe there will be some modifications but not big ones.”

Newcastle United and West Ham are among the clubs that have shown an interest in the France international in recent times.

Leverkusen to sign Brandt

Bayer Leverkusen have beaten the likes of Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea to the signing of highly-rated Germany youth international forward Julian Brandt.

Brandt, 17, will leave Wolfsburg for Leverkusen in January or in the summer.

“Julian Brandt is to sign with us. We just do not know if this will take place this winter or next summer. We will have to agree that with VfL Wolfsburg,” Leverkusen general manager Rudi Voller told Deutsche Presseagentur.

“We are a top club and we are able to sign top players like Julian Brandt.”

Leverkusen, currently in 2nd-place in the Bundesliga table, are scheduled to play Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park at the weekend.

As expected, the visitors are significant underdogs to win all three points at Dortmund on Saturday.

Borussia Dortmund (8/15); Bayer Leverkusen (21/4); Draw (3/1)
