Nugent set to leave Preston

According to a recent report from Sky Sports, veteran forward David Nugent is set to leave Preston North End.

The belief is that he has been excluded from the rest of the squad and told not to come to training as PNE continue to search for a new club for him to join. The 35-year-old still has one year left on his two year deal, but at this moment in time, Preston do not see him as part of their plans as we look ahead to the future.

The big worry seems to be that Nugent has lost his goalscoring touch after netting just once in 24 Championship appearances last season. Preston are hoping to make another run for promotion in the new campaign and if they’re going to do that, the priority will need to move towards starting players in the first team that are capable of getting them back to that level.
