Arsenal are on the verge of selling Nuno Tavares to Lazio in the summer transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano. The well-known and well-respected journalist has reported that Tavares has reached a verbal agreement with Lazio, adding that the former Nottingham Forest loanee will undergo a medical this weekend.
Romano wrote on X: “Nuno Tavares to Lazio, here we go! Verbal agreement on 5 year contract just reached, deal until June 2029.
“Nuno will travel this weekend for medical if all goes to plan with formal documents.
“Arsenal receive €9m, loan with mandatory buy clause + sell-on clause.”
Tavares has been on the books of Arsenal since 2021 when he joined from Benfica. The 24-year-old left-back has failed to make a huge impact at the Gunners and have been out on loan at Marseille and Nottingham Forest in recent seasons. The former Portugal Under-21 international defender has made 30 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career. He has scored one goa, given one assist and kept four clean sheets in those games.
