(GSM) – FC Nürnberg will spend another year in the German top flight after a 3-0 aggregate win over Augsburg in the promotion/relegation play-off.

Nürnberg had already won their home game 1-0 and never had that lead come under pressure in the return leg.

Ilkayl Gündogan put the visitors ahead in the 34th minute, and Augsburg now needed three goals to win the tie. Instead, Maxim Choupo-Moting converted a penalty for 0-2 three minutes after the hour.

Nürnberg finished the Bundesliga in 16th place and were as such forced to feature in a play-off with Augsburg, who came in third in the 2. Bundesliga.

VfL Bochum and Hertha BSC were relegated directly while Kaiserslautern and St. Pauli are already certain of a spot in the Bundesliga next season.
