Levante striker Obafemi Martins has revealed that he is on the verge of joining Seattle Sounders.
Martins, 28, only joined Levante last summer, and was tipped for a long-term stay at Estadio Ciudad de Valencia.
However, recent reports suggested that he could be joining Seattle Sounders this winter, with the transfer window in MLS not closing until April.
The Nigerian has now moved to confirm those reports, admitting he is on the way to the United States.
“It’s a good deal for me, it is a good deal for everyone and it would be nice for my family to go to America,” he told Spanish radio station Cadena SER Valencia.
“I came to Levante for very little money and they will receive more than what it cost to sign me, so it would be a good deal for Levante.”
Obafemi Martins arrived at Levante on a free transfer from Rubin Kazan and he has done really well to replace Arouna Kone up front.
The Nigerian has made a total of 20 La Liga appearances this season, and scored 7 goals in the process.
During his career, he has also represented Inter, Newcastle, Wolfsburg and Birmingham, winning the Serie A title and five different Cup competitions.
